Deadlock-Free Routing In Irregular Networks Using Prefix Routing

چکیده
In this paper, we propose a deadlock-free routing in irregular networks using pre x routing. Pre x routing is a special type of routing with a compact routing table associated with each node (processor). Basically, each outgoing channel of a node is assigned a special label and an outgoing channel is selected if its label is a pre x of the label of the destination node. Node and channel labeling in an irregular network is done through constructing a spanning tree. The routing process follows a two-phase process of going up and then down along the spanning tree, with a possible cross channel (shortcut) between two branches of the tree between two phases. We show that the proposed routing scheme is deadlockand livelockfree. Possible extensions are also discussed.

متن کاملAdaptive-Trail Routing and Performance Evaluation in Irregular Networks Using Cut-Through Switches
ÐCut-through switching promises low latency delivery and has been used in new generation switches, especially in high speed networks demanding low communication latency. The interconnection of cut-through switches provides an excellent network platform for high speed local area networks (LANs). For cost and performance reasons, irregular topologies should be supported in such a switch-based net...
متن کاملDescending Layers Routing: A Deadlock-Free Deterministic Routing using Virtual Channels in System Area Networks with Irregular Topologies
System Area Networks (SANs), which usually accept irregular topologies, have been used to connect nodes in PC/WS clusters or high-performance storage systems. Since wormhole or virtual cut-through transfer is used for low latency communication, deadlock-free routings are essential in SANs. In this paper, we propose a novel deadlock-free deterministic routing called descending layers (DL) routin...
متن کاملA Deadlock-Free Routing Scheme for Interconnection Networks with Irregular Topologies
Interconnection networks with irregular topologies (or irregular networks) are ideal communication subsystems for workstation clusters owing to their incremental scalability. While many deadlock-free routing schemes have been proposed for regular networks such as mesh, torus, and hypercube, they cannot be applied in irregular networks. This paper presents a cost-effective routing architecture, ...
